“Comfort Books…”

I’m not going to talk about how books are comforting for reading but rather it is comforting to know that when you have no one, you have still got your books. It is comforting to know that when you have nothing to say, you can still talk via books or about books.

When I sat down to write something for my blog I couldn’t come up with anything to write, actually I did come up with so many things to write. I wrote almost 3 drafts based on various topics but in the middle of writing them I ended up deleting all of them because I just didn’t feel like saying anything, didn’t feel like expressing anything. So I went through my files on a computer and all I could find comforting to talk about or relaxing for my own self-was books. You can talk about so many things if the topic is books without having to fear the feeling of being vulnerable or judged.

I have been quite busy lately with university and my personal life which is why I haven’t been able to write anything or post anything on my blog or Instagram. I did read three books in past week but every time I tried to write anything for either of my social medias, I just couldn’t find the words. Sometimes life gives you so many weird moments that you start to question the reality and in the midst of all this chaos all you can do is open a book and dive into it. That’s what I did. Though I had my exams and this time they were giving me the worst anxiety but I couldn’t bring myself to study or do anything. (SIDE NOTE: Sometimes when I write posts for this blog I get this weird feeling as if this is my personal journal and no one is going to read it so I pour out everything that I feel at the moment)

At this point, I have no idea how to conclude my post. I know everyone knows how important books are and how comforting they’re but no one knows what they are for the other person and maybe this is the reason why I wrote this post.

Feel free to share how you feel regarding books.

Sincerely,

A Bibliophile. ❤

“Over Hyped Books”

oh

I have been so much mislead by the hype of some books that I no longer read books based on their hype. I will be making a list of why I find under hyped books are sometimes way better than over hyped books and honestly one of my favorite books are the ones that never got any recognition. Also the reason of some books not to meet the expectations is the hype they get before their release or during their release. If I talk about myself, I start expecting so much from those books that when I finally read them, I don’t find them as good as I previously thought they were going to be. Especially it happens with dystopian or Sci Fi books. In future, I will be making a list of over hyped and under hyped books but this post is going to be about over hyped books only. These are not necessarily my reviews for these books. I might post the reviews in future but right now these are only the reasons of not liking these books as much as I anticipated liking them. So without further due, let’s get started.

  1. Red Queen By Victoria Aveyard

When this book first came out, almost everyone on booktube and goodreads was talking about it. I bought this book immediately and read it after 3-4 months because of my busy schedule. I was expecting so much and everyone was talking about the “plot twist” in this book. For me, the plot twist was quite predictable. Also the general idea or this book was quite generic because I feel like almost every Sci Fi, Fantasy or Dystopian book these days has almost the identical main lead and plot. So this was a let down for me.

2. The Crown By Keira Cass

I have already talked about this series in one of my previous posts. I really liked the first three books in Selection Series regardless of the characters but The Heir and The Crown I believe are unnecessary installments in this whole series. When these books first came out I read some of the goodreads reviews and judging from them the books seemed quite good but when I read them I was highly disappointed. For this, I don’t think the hype was a complete reason of why I couldn’t like the books but partly the characters were also the reason why I just couldn’t bear with them.

3. The 5th Wave By Rick Yancey

This book is really good. I actually enjoyed reading it and the plot was actually read good too. I read this book in 2015 when the news of its movie adaptation came out. Everyone was talking about this book and honestly I was pretty intrigued with it as well. But I don’t think the book was as good as everyone was saying. I really liked the idea of multiple POVs. I liked how it portrayed the siblings bond but to be honest I just couldn’t develop any feelings towards the characters. For a time being, I did think that I really liked the characters of Cassie, Evan and Ben but now that I think about it, the characters were pretty much like every other YA novel. There was nothing special or new about the characters. For me the characters were really basic (not that it is a bad thing but the characters were almost exactly like every other YA book) but the plot really had the potential. I still haven’t read the other books in this series but I’m definitely going to read them in future.

4. Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

When I first found out about Colleen Hoover’s books I felt like she was going to be my most favorite author (I only read the blurbs of her books at that time). The thing with NA books is that the characters are always over the top. They’re too perfect, either in looks or personality. This makes it really hard for a reader to connect with them. You can have crush on these characters but you can never feel connection with them. I do believe that Colleen Hoover does bring potential story lines in her books and for some part the book made me emotional but at the end I don’t believe that this book is as great as I thought it was going to be. For a time being, I also fangirled over Miles Archer character but as you grow up you start to see that the book needs to have more than a pretty perfect boy in it. Same is the case with Hopeless which is why I’m not including this book in this post but yes I do think that Hopeless was also overhyped for me.

5. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

When this book came out, almost every other person was talking about it. At first I was reluctant of reading it because the title felt too cheesy (even for me) but then I gave in and read it. I’m going to be honest, when I read it I was a teenager and for me the ‘cutesy’ thing which was going on in this book was enough to like it but now that I think about it I realize that the book consists of bunch of dumb characters, with stupid life choices and it actually promotes cheating! This book really infuriates me not because of the plot (I mean also because of it) but because why I liked it at the first place. I actually prefer the second book in this trilogy, “Lola and the Boy next door” simply because the main character was more relate-able and less dumb than the previous book. I still haven’t read Isla and the Happily Every After and I have no plans of reading it in the future as well.

6. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

I do think this book is overhyped. I really liked reading it but I just couldn’t develop the empathy I anticipated for it. The idea of this book is really good but the characters are ‘eh’ for me. Also the way this book ended really felt like a rush to me. I’m not saying that it should have had more pages or the writer should have dragged the story I just felt like I couldn’t accept the ending or I didn’t get the closure I wanted from this book. The second book in duology has also come out but I’m pretty sure that I will never read it.

7. Anne Henry by Dawn Ius

OH MY GOD! This book was the biggest let down of 2016 for me. I was so anticipating this book because I’m really interested in the history of Henry the 8th and Anne Boleyn and I kind of knew that this book would fail to meet the expectations because of the whole high school drama but still I couldn’t wait to get it and when I started reading it, at first I thought hey it’s just the starting it will get better but it kept getting worse and I had to DNF it after putting up with it for 60 pages.

So these were the books which were overhyped for me by booktube, goodreads or any other social media. Comment down below, which book you think is overhyped?

Also this post is not a mean to offend anyone.

“Captions and Clickbaits”

Greetings to all the beautiful souls.

I hope you all are doing perfectly fine – mentally and physically.

So, here is a confession in case no one has noticed yet (because obviously no one ever notices ANYTHING IN THIS BLOG!) *calms down* that I suck at giving titles to posts or if you guys haven’t checked out my Instagram then let me tell you, I suck at giving captions to my pictures. If you don’t want to go and see then take me up on my word. I hardly give any captions to my posts, the reason being, my mind goes blank whenever I try to type something as a caption. I feel like the world’s most awkward person, sitting there, looking at nothingness of my mobile screen but sometimes I do try to give captions but then I end up deleting it all and post my pictures with a heart or two (what else would I do, right?)

And then I go on Youtube and come across all these promising titles, offering us so much but giving us nothing in their videos (No, I’m not going to roast anyone). But here I am, giving the most boring titles to my blog posts and nearly no captions to my Instagram pictures. If only there were a college from where you could major in clickbaits and captions, trust me I would fail in those classes as well but hey at least I would learn at least something out of them, right????

So tell me how do you come up with your titles or captions? Do you feel like sometimes it is difficult to think of captions or titles?

Sincerely,

A Wanderer’s Soul. ❤

“A Break…”

Greetings 🙂

I recently started this series of posts where I would rant about the things I hate in YA or books in general and I actually have a list of 10-15 things that I really hate and I was not planning on taking a break from posting those ‘complaining series’ because I didn’t want to be inconsistent with the flow of my blog posts. BUT it doesn’t matter if I take a break or not because literally no one reads my posts LIKE LITERALLY NO ONE! So I can post whatever I want whenever I want because I don’t have any audience (I can’t decide if I should cry over this thing or laugh at my own stupidity)

So I guess I won’t stop writing because why should I? 😛 But I will post whenever I want without being consistent in whatever I want to write (Perks of not being famous :D)

I actually contemplated writing about some philosophical ideas but then I thought I already have to go to university every day and study those things every single hour, why should I make my self suffer through those ‘academic’ things at home also? It doesn’t mean I won’t write about those things but I won’t write about those things as much as I initially decided. I actually don’t know why I’m writing this post or what I’m going to write after this post (SHOCKER, RIGHT!) but I know one thing that I will write something!

His-oh-his-everything

FYI, I always knew I had some elements of Andy Dawyer in me but this is a whole new level.

So this is it. I don’t have anything else to say write now but I guess I will post about something sooner or later.

Until the next time (whenever it is going to be)

Sincerely,

I want to write ‘Someone Clueless’ but I don’t want to embarrass myself any more than what I have just done in this post. So…

One of the Blessed Ones. ❤

“30 Facts about Me”

I just saw that many bloggers have these posts of facts about themselves so I thought I should also make one about me. So here it goes… 🙂

  1. I’m 21 years old and Pakistani Muslim.
  2. I’m doing bachelors in English Language and Literature.
  3. I decided to choose English as my major after reading Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell.
  4. I get overly obsessed with things easily and then there comes a point where I struggle to stop this obsession but it gets pretty hard for me to stop.
  5. I love winters. I would rather spend a winter’s night with -15 degree Centigrade outside walking than to spend a summer day outside on beach. Also, I feel like I can breathe more easily in winters.
  6. I sometimes get very bad anxiety. Sometimes they are about most random things and I can’t understand why these things are triggering my anxiety.
  7. I love reading conspiracy theories and creepy pasta.
  8. Though I’m pursuing a degree in Literature and Language but I’m passionate about Psychology, Criminology, Sociology and Law (and I read about these subjects excessively on Internet).
  9. I am obsessed with One Direction not because they’re good singers but because I believe they are good people in person (NO I have never met them).
  10. I would rather live in mountains with winters throughout the year than live in a city with 3-4 months of summers.
  11. I have re watched Wizards of Waverly Place for like umpteenth times and I still watch it even though I’m 21 now. Also, one of my favorite sitcoms are Friends and Parks and Recreation.
  12. My favorite genre in books is Young Adult Contemporary.
  13. My favorite writer is Kasie West. I believe she is my spirit animal and if I were a real writer I would have written the same novels as she does and I have read all of her books except Pivot Point.
  14. I think I have conflicting feelings towards everything in my life. For instance, I don’t know if ice cream really tastes that good or is it just what we have always believed.
  15. My favorite Youtubers are Shane Dawson, Miranda Sings, Lilly Singh and LoeyLane.
  16. My favorite Booktubers are Hailey In Bookland and LilyCReads.
  17. As I said earlier I get obsessed or rather addicted to things easily so I don’t think I like anything or anyone but rather I get obsessed with them. I have got mad detective skills (I would rather use this term than call myself a Stalker 😀 ). If I like anything I will read every single article about it and watch every available video about it and I hate this side of mine.
  18. My hands are always too hot no matter what the season is.
  19. I have like the worst skin and I can’t do anything about it because whenever I try to use any product for it I end up getting acne all over my face.
  20. When I was in school I wanted to be a Software Engineer but then I changed my mind.
  21. I hate having small talks with strangers. I guess you can say I’m not a people person.
  22. I don’t know if it was obvious from the previous points but I’m an extremely introverted person. I can happily stay in my room for 12 months straight but obviously I can’t. I hate it when I have to go out for anything and I hate it when I have to interact with anyone.
  23. I hate confrontations.
  24. I’m always in discussion with my own self and weirdly enough those discussions never take place in my native language.
  25. I have very small feet and this is one of the reason why I hate wearing shoes. And I have never worn heels in my life and I cannot wear them either.
  26. I like to think I have Ailurophobia.
  27. I hate and fear change. I hate it when something in my life starts changing.
  28. I have two sisters. One is two years older than me and one is four years younger than me. Many people confuse my little sister and I as twins.
  29. I like eating meat but whenever I eat it I get nausea and this is why I love vegetables and fruits.
  30. Right now I’m embarrassed of the length of this post. 😦

So these were the most unimportant facts about me. Tell me something about you. 🙂

Sincerely,

One of the Blessed Ones. ❤

“The Love Triangle….”

Greetings to all… 🙂

tumblr_mz3vm0Z2ti1r35lizo1_500

This is a second post in my “Complaining Series” and as the title already tells it is about the love triangles in books. Let me start by saying I love reading YA, NA et cetera but whenever I’m going to add a book in my tbr the first thing I do is check its ‘shelves’ on Goodreads and if it has a love triangle category in it, that’s my cue on closing that tab. Trust me no matter how much I love a book by its blurb I cannot force myself to read it. And I have read my fair share of love triangles (sometimes they are love square, octagon or whatever)

It mostly happens in series and our protagonist keeps on running  into someone new “who brings out something unknown or hidden out of them” I mean COME ON! normal people don’t meet new people every other day and develop new feelings towards them every other day. And the most amusing thing is they don’t believe in telling their significant others that ‘hey, you know what? I just met a new person who I think is better than you and I’m going to stick with them for a while’. What percent of decency would you need to say things like that and when things start to go south or get messed up they will blame it on situations and timings (SERIOUSLY?!) All I want to say to these characters is, “Make up your mind already!” ( I just realized that I get so aggressive while writing these posts 😀 )

The thing is we all love to root for certain teams. We love shipping our protagonist with our favorite love interest but everything in between, the cheating, the dumb decisions, the cringy moments are what make these books frustrating and drive me crazy.

easter-student-money-saver-deals-discount

This was one of the reason why I find some books so annoying even if I want to read them and love them, but sometimes I fail in relating to these characters and liking some books.

Comment below of what do you think about love triangles in books/ tv shows/ movies.

Until next time.

“A Series That Is So Bad That It Becomes Entertaining”

Greetings to all.

So, before starting this blog post I really want to say that this post or all the coming posts are not meant to hurt any writer or to throw shades on any one but rather it is just a mean of expressing my own opinion about certain books or parts of general books. Now, without further due, let’s get started.

There are quite some books that are so good and hyped but somehow they become awful along the way. And amongst this realm of books we have this particular series that is so bad yet so interesting at the same time. Let me give you a hint: it is YA dystopian which is quite popular (and includes lots of beautiful dresses).

The Famous or rather Infamous ” The Selection Series” ❤

SPOILER ALERT: If you haven’t read the books yet then read them first and then read this post.

1

Okay, when talking about The Selection Series the first character that comes in our minds is, America Singer. I have literally never come across any character which is as annoying as she is (Maxon boy, I do believe you are cute but I don’t respect your life choices and don’t even get me started on Aspen!). First of all the love triangle! I hate love triangles in general but if you want me to murder those characters throw some America Singer in it and Voila! you have the element of ruining every good story.

I actually loved reading this series. I read the first three books in two days straight. This series is something you cannot simply put down and sometimes you have this strong urge to throw it across the room.

When I finished the first three books I was like, “Okay, so finally I got the answers and now I won’t have to read about this clueless or rather dumbest character” but guess what? The daughter came in the picture. You know that phrase? Like mother like daughter. Well, in this case the daughter was 10 times more of what her mother was;  “The most Powerful” Princess Eadlyn. (YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!)

kill-me

I have one question. Why these men in this series need to reevaluate their life choices so much? I mean, I get it love is blind but love isn’t dumb enough to not recognize the annoyance of another person. I have so many conflicting feelings towards these books. In one way, these books are my guilty pleasure. I might re-read them in future (like again and again) but I have such strong feelings towards these characters that I will keep on despising them. But still I cannot deny that this series is so entertaining that I couldn’t put down the first three books. I actually kind of DNFed The Crown when I was halfway through the book. I couldn’t take any longer of Eadlyn Schreave and had to just read the ending but I totally recommend the first three books in this series.

So there you go, The Selection Series is awfully good (Only oxymoron can define this series). The covers are so pretty, the dresses are amazing, the writing is also really good but one has to be tolerant enough to read this series.

Hope I didn’t offend anyone. This is only what I felt about this series. I never said these books shouldn’t exist because writing these kinds of books is a real talent and no one should discourage anyone as Truman Capote said, “You can’t blame the writer for what the characters say.” I do believe Kiera Cass is an amazing writer and she should write more amazing books in future.

Sincerely,

A Bibliophile. ❤
